Free Lifetime Map Updates for Eligible Brand-New CMNAV Sat Navs

What "Free Lifetime Map Updates" Means:

For eligible CMNAV sat navs, Free Lifetime Map Updates means that C & M Navigation Systems provides the available map update files and our step-by-step self-installation instructions free of charge.

When a compatible map update is available for your sat nav model, we can provide:

• A download link for the available map update files.
• A step-by-step video tutorial or installation instructions explaining how to install the update yourself.
• Reasonable complimentary guidance relating to the supplied update instructions.

What Is NOT Included Free of Charge:

Free Lifetime Map Updates does not mean that all work, hardware, postage or update-related services are provided free of charge.

The following are not included as part of the free self-update entitlement:

• Installing the maps on your behalf.
• Posting your sat nav to C & M Navigation Systems.
  
• Express or Next Day return postage fees post in-house upgrade, if the customer needs the sat nav back urgently.
• MicroSD cards, USB cables (if the original cable supplied was lost or damaged), and computers or other hardware are required to perform an update.
• Preparing and supplying a preloaded MicroSD card.
• Recovering or repairing a sat nav following an unsuccessful, interrupted or incorrectly performed update performed by the customer.
• Personal computer support, Windows troubleshooting, internet troubleshooting or assistance with unrelated third-party hardware or software.

In simple terms, we provide the eligible map files and self-installation instructions free of charge. If you require C & M Navigation Systems to perform the update for you, provide hardware, or arrange postage, this is a separate paid service.

Eligibility and Order Verification:

Free Lifetime Map Updates are available to the original purchaser of an eligible brand-new CMNAV sat nav purchased directly from cmnav.co.uk.

We must be able to verify the original order in our records before issuing update files. Wherever possible, we will attempt to identify your purchase using our internal order records.

How Long Does "Lifetime" Mean?

In this policy, "lifetime" refers to the supported life of the eligible CMNAV product model and the continued availability of compatible map data and update services from C & M Navigation Systems. It does not mean the lifetime of the purchaser.

Free map updates remain available while the relevant product model remains supported, compatible update data remains available to us, and C & M Navigation Systems continues to provide the update service.

If a product model becomes technically obsolete, compatible map data is no longer available, or C & M Navigation Systems ceases trading, the Free Lifetime Map Updates service for that model will end.

Map Update Release Information:

Map updates are typically made available approximately once a year, although there is no guaranteed or fixed release schedule.

Release timing depends on the availability and finalisation of compatible mapping data. Different CMNAV models may use different map packages or navigation platforms, so updates may not become available for every model at the same time.

After new mapping data becomes available, additional content such as speed camera data and Points of Interest may take a further 2–3 weeks to prepare. Where appropriate, we may wait until the relevant content is complete before issuing an update package.

Requirements to Perform the Free Update Yourself:

To use the free self-update option, you will normally require:

• A desktop or laptop computer running Microsoft Windows.
• A stable internet connection capable of downloading large files.
• The appropriate USB cable or storage access is required for your sat nav model.
• Sufficient free storage space on your computer.
• Enough time to download, extract and copy the update files correctly.

Devices with macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux operating systems are not guaranteed to be compatible with the update process.

Also, Android phones, iPhones, tablets and other similar devices will not allow the map update procedure to be completed due to hardware restraints. 

If you do not own a Windows computer, you may use or borrow a compatible Windows desktop or laptop to perform the update yourself.

How to Request a Free Map Update:

Please email contact@cmnav.co.uk with one of the following:

• Your order number, OR
• Your full name and first line of address used when placing the order, OR
• A clear photo of the original CMNAV invoice.

Once the original purchase and sat nav model have been verified, we will confirm whether a compatible update is available and provide the appropriate download and installation information.

Important: A photograph of the sat nav, a serial number on its own, or a screenshot of a bank/card transaction may not be sufficient to verify the original eligible purchase.

Paid Update Options:

If you do not have access to a compatible Windows computer, do not wish to perform the update yourself, or would prefer us to prepare the update for you, separate paid services may be available.

Current options may include:

1. Preloaded MicroSD Card – currently £25 (only if the sat nav model supports this update method)
   Where compatible with your sat nav model, we can prepare and post a MicroSD card containing the latest suitable map package. The charge covers the MicroSD card, preparation and postage.
   
   
2. In-House Map Update Service – currently £25
   You may post the sat nav to us, and we will perform the update on your behalf. The charge covers our update work, basic post-update testing and return postage from us back to you. Unless specifically agreed otherwise, the cost of sending the sat nav to us is the customer's responsibility.

These charges are not charges for the eligible map download files themselves. They cover additional hardware, labour, preparation and/or postage outside the free self-update entitlement.

Prices for optional paid services may change in the future. The current price will always be confirmed before you agree to use a paid service.

Storage Limitations on Older Devices:

Map packages generally increase in size as roads, mapping data and Points of Interest are added. Some older or lower-capacity sat nav models may eventually have insufficient internal storage for a complete European map package.

Where this occurs, available options may include:

1. Reduced map coverage – a smaller compatible map package containing only required countries or regions.
2. Preloaded MicroSD card – where supported by the sat nav model, maps may be prepared to run from compatible external storage as a separate paid service.

We will advise which options are technically compatible with your specific CMNAV model.

Second-Hand, Refurbished and Unverified Units:

Unless expressly stated otherwise at the time of sale, this Free Lifetime Map Updates policy applies only to eligible brand-new CMNAV sat navs purchased directly from cmnav.co.uk.

Certified Refurbished, open-box, second-hand, privately purchased or third-party supplied units are not covered by this policy unless Free Lifetime Map Updates were expressly included with that specific purchase.

Where a unit is not eligible, we may still be able to provide paid update assistance, subject to model compatibility and update availability.

Important Update Conditions:

• CMNAV update files are intended only for compatible CMNAV sat nav models.
• You must use the update package supplied or approved for your specific model.
• Installing files intended for another model or device may cause software or navigation problems.
• Do not perform a factory reset unless specifically instructed by C & M Navigation Systems, as this may remove navigation software or map data.
• We strongly recommend allowing sufficient time before a major journey or travelling abroad when performing a map update.

Abuse and Misuse:

We reserve the right to refuse to update files or provide complimentary support where there is reasonable evidence of:

• Fraudulent claims regarding purchase or ownership.
• Attempts to obtain CMNAV files for resale, redistribution or competing commercial purposes.
• Deliberate misuse of the update service.
• Abusive, threatening or harassing behaviour towards our staff.

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory consumer rights.
